Tens of millions of Americans smoke cigarettes regularly and something that has become clear in the last couple of decades is the direct correlation between smoking and cancer diagnoses. But is that message actually resonating enough with the general public? Nearly half of patients diagnosed with cancer in 2023 had a history of smoking, and 15% were smokers at the time of their diagnosis. That’s according to new Yale Cancer Center-led research published in in JAMA Oncology. We spoke with Yale Cancer Center’s Dr. Dan Boffa, the study’s senior investigator.

A proposal to block towns and cities from banning multi-family housing options either permanently or temporarily has advanced from both the Housing Committee and Planning and Development Committee. Senator Jeff Gordon is a Ranking Member on the Planning & Development Committee and explained how this bill really impacts towns, like Fairfield and Trumbull, that have housing-related moratoriums in place right now.
